Comparative study of refrigerated storage in UK horticulture

Summary

Appropriate well managed storage of perishable horticultural crops is vital to ensure optimum market penetration for UK crops.  Following requests from representatives of the tree fruit sector to allow storage costs as a permissible deduction when calculating levy, the HDC Chairman and AHDB CEO announced that a study would be undertaken to determine the relative importance and costs of storage for each major horticultural crop sector.  This project will provide such comparative data.
